Proscenium Theatre Company was founded in 2010 with the aim of revitalising the theatre landscape in Trinidad by fostering an ecosystem of artists, actors, musicians and dancers working on fully produced musicals and plays.

The company is headed by Andrew Seepersad and Mervyn de Goeas.

Andrew (MBA/Doctoral Candidate in Innovation Management) is the Founder, Producer and Co-Director of Proscenium Theatre Company. He has an extensive history in the Performing Arts and is a Strategist and Innovation Management expert who works with not-for-profit and for-profit companies.

​

Under his leadership, PTC has produced 3 large scale musicals (RENT, Little Shop of Horrors, and The Wiz) and several plays, including Rabbit Hole and Moon on a Rainbow Shawl and most recently, MAMMA MIA!

Mervyn (MFA) is the most decorated theatre Director in the history of Trinidad and Tobago, having won 6 Best Director Cacique Awards. He has worked with some of Trinidad’s most notable talents, including Derek Walcott and Peter Minshall. His career spans over 40 years, and in that time he has directed and designed over 25 full theatrical performances.

PTC is a community-based theatre company that seeks to foster talent while developing the theatrical industry in Trinidad and Tobago. After a few years of hiatus, we have refreshed our vision to focus on the following strategic objectives:

1.       Revive the overall theatre industry which is still suffering from the after-effects of Covid

2.       Re-establish San Fernando and South Trinidad as the home of theatre in Trinidad and Tobago

3.       Revitalise musical theatre as a key contributor to the Performing Arts landscape

We recognize that this is a formidable task considering the near decimation of the theatre community over the past 5 years, as well as the highly prohibitive costs of producing musical theatre. However, we believe that through community partnerships, careful financial planning and optimization of our operations, we can successfully, over time, foster a sustainable business and industry.
